Red-headed Barbet, Eubucco bourcierii
The brilliant male and only slightly more subdued female of this species were frequent visitors to the feeders at San Jorge Tandayapa during our two-and-a-half days of concentrated photography from the restaurant deck at the lodge; they provided a constant temptation to shoot more and more. Barbets are the smaller close relatives of the toucans, also colorful large-billed fruit-eating tropical birds.
