Prairie Warbler, Setophaga discolor
A male Prairie Warbler on a wild rose branch against a green grass background in late April made a great first photo of this species for me in Shawnee State Forest, Ohio, in late April 2015.
The rufous striping on the back is a distinctive mark of the male Prairie Warbler.
The heavy black markings along the flanks and extending up as far as the eyes are another characteristic
mark of the male Prairie Warbler.
