Adult female Blue Grosbeaks usually show some blue feathering, often a considerable amount, whereas juveniles don't. But this one is pretty sure to be an adult, despite the absence of blue; it was engaged in courting-type behavior with the male, presumably in preparation for a second clutch of young, and the worn tail feathers seem inconsistent with its being a juvenile.
