![]() The Yellow-fronted Canary, native to Africa south of the Sahara, is common on the leeward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Introduced to the islands in the 1960s, this popular cage species, known in the trade as the Green Singing Finch, is also found on Oahu and Molokai. I photographed this bird uphill from Puako on the northwest coast of the Big Island, where we were staying in January 2011. |
