Wilson's Snipe, Gallinago delicata

Wilson's Snipe
The Wilson's Snipe is both "one of the most abundant and widespread shorebirds in North America" and remarkably "elusive" (Birds of North America Online), by virtue of its talent for sitting still in its high grass or marsh habitat and relying on its camouflage to hide itself. The usual view of these birds is when they are flushed, flying rapidly up and away with a loud harsh cry and a burst of rapid wing movement. So despite their widespread abundance, I don't have a lot of photographs of them.
