I photographed this bird in Jerusalem Park, an unusual dry forest reserve in the outskirts of Quito at 8200 feet; the mesquite scrub is favored by this species, and the Arizona-like habitat of the park was underlined by the presence there of Vermilion Flycatchers. For more on the widespread and various saltator genus, see my page on the Buff-throated Saltator. |
