A highlight of my April 2008 trip to the Upper Texas Coast was a chance to photograph this pair at fairly close range near the headquarters of Galveston Island State Park. The male, in the top picture and the bottom two,  is distinguished by a longer tail, with a portion in the middle all-white; the female's shorter tail is dark above for its entire length. This male showed more salmon on the flanks as well.
