![]() The male Painted Bunting, shown above and below, has perhaps the most spectacularly colored plumage of any North American songbird. The only wintering population of this species in the US is found in the southern half of Florida; this bird was photographed on the east coast of central Florida in March, and birds of this population breed along the US east coast from northern Florida through North Carolina. A separate population breeds from Mississippi to New Mexico, and winters south of the border. |
