Mountain Plover, Charadrius montanus
|
|
![]() Mountain Plovers are not birds of the mountains, but rather are seen on dry, barren fields at any altitude. When standing still, they look like clods of dirt; and when they move, it is usually in a flock at too great a distance for a good photograph. This young bird was barely close enough for a barely adequate photo, in a field close to the coast and nearly at sea level. |
