Lawrence's
Goldfinch, Spinus lawrencei
![]() The charming and famously elusive Lawrence's Goldfinch nests in California and northern Baja California, wintering in the warmer parts of its breeding range and in southern Arizona. Neither nesting nor wintering sites are predictable from year to year, making this a bird much sought after not only by visitors to California, but also by locals like me. I'd been photographing birds for nine years in California before I took the better pictures on this page. |
