Hammond's Flycatcher, Empidonax hammondii

Hammond's Flycatcher

On my April 2009 trip to Arizona, I photographed a number of Empidonax flycatchers in Madera Canyon. Empidonax in migration are notoriously hard to identify, especially in the absence of heard calls or songs, and I had to leave several of these birds unspecified. This one seemed to several experienced empid-watchers to be clearly a Hammond's, with its small bill and long primary extension.
