Crimson-collared
Grosbeak, Rhodothraupus celaeno
![]() The Crimson-collared Grosbeak is a major rarity in the United States; this one had been present for much of the winter in Allen Williams's splendidly bird-friendly back yard in Pharr, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley, when I photographed it there in late February of 2011. The male has the crimson collar that gives the species its common English name. |
