Cassin's Sparrow, Peucaea cassinii

![]() Monsoon season in Arizona is the time to see and photograph the elusive and very similar looking Cassin's and Botteri's Sparrows; they are perched and skylarking, which makes them visible, and at the same time they are singing, which allows easy identification as their songs are quite distinct. I was lucky to be able to see and photograph singing males of both species along the lower reaches of Madera Canyon Road in early August, 2008. |
