Black-throated Green Warbler, Setophaga virens
Black-throated Green Warblers were establishing nesting territories in Shawnee Forest in southeastern Ohio when I was there on a bird photography workshop led by Matt Studebaker in April 2015; Matt said this was the first time he had seen them nesting there.
This was my first photograph of a Black-throated Green, taken in April 2008 at Boy Scout Woods, High Island, Texas. The bird was backlit so that I had to overexpose to capture its colors.
This first-cycle female Black-throated Green was a rare and welcome visitor to the coast of Central California during the winter of
2016-17. I was able to photograph the bird on New Year's morning, a good start to the birding year.
